Our fifth grade transition program meets the unique needs of students growing into a more independent status on campus. Mrs. Lori Howell and Mrs. Jaime Carter work seamlessly together, to help students transition into the full Middle School Program.
Fifth Graders enjoy some great benefits of Middle School life including participation in our Athletics Program, using a locker and attending select Middle School events without the rigorous demands of changing classes, learning multiple teaching styles and developing character within a sometimes complex social setting. Fifth graders are taught time management and organizational skills to prepare them for the middle school years. All of this within the context and consistency of Mrs. Howell's classroom. Fifth graders learn about aspects of the middle school life, while maintaining the security of a single teacher for the core curriculum.
This type of transition is exactly what fifth graders want and need. Students who experience the fifth grade transition program enter sixth grade with a better sense of themselves and middle school life as a whole.
