6TH GRADE
FOSTERING THE TRANSITION
In sixth grade, we continue fostering the transition process that was started in fifth grade to help students balance the expectations, challenges, and changes of middle school.
With support and guidance from our teachers, students in sixth grade are held to a higher level of independence and organization by maintaining a locker with their belongings, changing classes, and being responsible for their own schedule. We begin introducing our sixth graders to leadership roles available in middle school such as our ambassador program, student council, and student-led opportunities. Relationships between students and teachers are a huge part of our middle school, and it starts with the bond that is developed in sixth grade.
